A BIT ABOUT US
The Mellowhood Foundation is a non-profit (501(c)(3)) corporation. It was the brain-child of Meadowood resident Tutankhamun (Coach) Assad. Coach established a flag football league in 2011 to keep under-served neighborhood kids structured over the summer. Along the way he learned from the youth, not only what they needed in the summer, but what they needed year-round in order to gain governance of their future. After the success of his efforts, the idea of the foundation was born.
The foundation provides opportunities for youth and parents in under-served and under-valued Madison neighborhoods to engage in constructive community activities. The focus of all activity is to help create an environment where youth and parents can both see leadership as a shared responsibility and experience using self-determination for constructive change.
